Pediatrician – Pediatric Cardiologist

Specific professional orientation:

Pediatric and neonatal interventional cardiology of congenital heart defects (CHD), diagnosis and optimal modalities for resolving the most complex CHD, fetal echocardiography, congestive heart failure in children, cardiomyopathy, and congenital heart defects in adults.

 

Education:

  • 1981- He enrolled in the 1974/75 at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade and ended in February 1981 with an average grade of 9.57.
  • 2012- Associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, Department of Pediatrics
  • 2018- Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, Department of Pediatrics

Advanced training:

During 1990-1991-seven months in the field of pediatric cardiology at The Royal Brompton Hospital, London, with Dr. E.A. Shinebourne, and then, for the next five months at The Boston Children`s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, with special emphasis on pediatric interventional cardiology.

Upon his return to the country, he introduced, for the first time in our region, interventional catheterization procedures (balloon dilatation, stents) in congenital obstructive lesions of the left heart (coarctation, aortic stenosis).

1996 He was elected a regular member of the Association of Pediatric Cardiologists of Europe, and on that occasion he was awarded a diploma of subspecialist pediatric cardiologist issued by this association.

2014 Elected a member of the American Society of Cardiology (AHA)

Professor Dr. Košutić Jovan performed over 2000 diagnostic and about 500 interventional catheterizations in patients with CHD, as well as more than 10,000 ultrasound examinations.

He was, on several occasions, the moderator of the thematic area of cardiology at the Pediatric School of Serbia and a member of the Department of Cardiology and Neonatology for postgraduate teaching.

So far, Professor Košutić has published 33 papers in journals from the JCR list (M21-M23) (12 as the first or leading author) with over 100 international citations.
