Interventional procedures

The department for performing interventional procedures at the Pulse Cardiology Center employs highly specialized radiologists, subspecialists in interventional radiology, cardiologists, subspecialists in interventional cardiology, neuroradiologists and vascular surgery specialists. Our team is specially trained to perform all types of interventional procedures. The Pulse Cardiology Center has a state-of-the-art Cath-lab in which those procedures are performed.

Interventional radiology is a part of invasive radiology that deals with the treatment of certain diseases with the help of radiological devices (ultrasound, scanner or magnet). Radiological devices are used to enter the body, ie. directly into the pathological change, purposefully introduce a device (usually a special catheter) in order to treat the disease, and remove the change without surgery.

Such intervention procedures do not require, as in surgical intervention, general anesthesia, but only mild sedation and analgesia. Interventional procedures last shorter than classic surgery, are much less aggressive, and patients recover faster.
